§ 4-14. Duties and power of animal warden.

  • (a)

    In addition to the duties and power of the animal warden otherwise prescribed, he shall keep and maintain adequate records of all animals impounded and of all actions taken in the course of his duties. The record shall include a description of the animal, date of pick-up, the sex, color, breed, distinguishing marks, location of pick-up and upon final disposition of such animal, the records shall show disposition.

    (b)

    The animal warden shall also carry out and enforce all of the provisions of this chapter and amendments hereto and he shall enforce the licensing and control of all animals in the town as provided in this chapter. He shall seize and take up all animals violating the terms of this chapter and maintain the same in a suitable and humane manner at the animal shelter. He shall accomplish this is a humane manner. He shall be empowered to pursue upon private property any animal violating any provision of this chapter in his presence or action under court order, warrant, affidavit, or when attempting to seize any animal suspected of, or having been exposed to rabies; or he shall make complaints in city court for violations of this chapter and shall attend and testify in court when required. He shall have authority to make out and issue tickets for violation of this chapter.
