Latest version.
  • After completion of the laying of any pipe, line or conduit, or the installation or repair of any facility for which the excavation was undertaken, the excavator shall cause the work to be backfilled in such a manner as to make the street in as good a condition as it was before the excavation. Any person making any excavation in any unpaved street or alley shall be responsible for the maintenance of the excavation for a period of three months after backfill thereof. If any settlement occurs in the area that was formerly excavated, the excavator or person causing the excavation shall immediately, upon notice, fill the settling and put the street or alley in as good a condition as possible. Any paved portion of any street or alley, after backfilling, will be repaired by the town.
